District Logo Competition: Rotaract Club of Roseau Entry

Rotaract District 7030 is the embodiment of the Caribbean. It is perhaps the most diverse Rotaract District in the world spanning across many different territories, both islands and continents, with many different cultures, customs and languages. Yet we are all united in the common goal of service above self.

As such this logo was designed to highlight our tropical commonality while bringing together symbolic representatives of our region’s diverse flora and fauna.

Flying near the top of the logo are a pair of hummingbirds, perhaps the most majestic species of birds in the world, and common in our locale. The hummingbird is one of the hardest working birds, with wings flapping so quickly that one could be led to believe that the wings don’t exist. This is often how Rotaractors are, working extremely hard in their communities and rarely seen, flying from one country to the next to carry on the work of Rotaract. Their beauty visible only when they pause for a moment to smell the flowers as the hummingbird does.

The mighty coconut: Hard on the outside but soft, sweet and refreshing on the inside. The coconut is undoubtedly the most versatile plant in the world, with every part of the plant able to be used for a multitude of applications. This is District 7030: Strong and nourishing to the community, able to accomplish so many diverse projects from limited resources; able to turn the hard work under the sun, the salt water in our sweat, and the soil in our hands into beautiful smiles as we change the lives of those in our community.

The Hibiscus Flower, the Rose of the Caribbean, is another expression of the diverse beauty, found in abundance in every territory of the District, in all manner of different varieties and colors. The hibiscus represents the heterogeneous make up of the Rotaractors of District 7030, with African, European, Indian, Chinese, and native heritage. This plentiful flower is also a main source of nourishment for the proud Hummingbird.

Finally the coconut leaves signify the many clubs in the District growing constantly as new clubs sprout up. Fueled by the passion for service they keep the District thriving and active.
