DRR Monthly Address – April 2013

Greetings Rotaractors

The countdown has begun to the 27th annual Rotaract District Conference being held in Tobago. Come prepared for a weekend of fellowship, training, celebration and simply, a weekend spent with fellow Rotaractors, family and friends assisting in “Planning, Shaping, Building Creating a New Paradise”.

Now let us not forget the importance and purpose of our conference which is to provide training in the form of the Rotaract Executive Training Seminar (RETS) for the incoming Board of Directors and Rotaractor members, and also to provide a forum for Rotaractors to share ideas, assess and review our District’s progress over the year which is in the form of District Assembly (DA).

Therefore as a Club President, Club Representative, Club Director or Rotaractor attending you need to have the following prepared/completed:

  1. Confirm your attendance at RETS with the conference committee on or before Friday 10th May, 2013
  2. A copy of the minutes of District assembly 2012 in Guadeloupe
  3. Your Club’s corrections and feedback on the minutes from DA 2012
  4. Your Club’s decision on the bylaws amendments

Club Representatives should also:

  1. Ensue that your club is in good standing for the Rotaract year 2012-2103 to be eligible to vote.
  2. Be prepared to pay District Dues for the Rotaract year 2013-2014

It should also be noted that strictly business attire is allowed for District Assembly.

I am therefore urging all Rotaractors to come prepared to enjoy the full conference experience. You will not want to miss any moment of a weekend filled with Action, Excitement and Surprises in the sweet isle of Tobago that is clean, green and serene!

In the month of March, I was truly impressed with clubs in our district for highlighting and promoting Rotaract during World Rotaract Week and for conducting projects to engage and build their relationship with their neighbouring community. I encourager Rotaractors therefore to not sit comfortably on these accomplishments achieved in World Rotaract Week but build on these connections throughout the entire year.

As this Rotaract year comes to an end, please remember that the 4th Quarter Project Report has a deadline ofFriday 10th May, 2013. Also, the handing over process of the outgoing board to the incoming board should be in full swing. I am pleading with all clubs in our district that this process of HANDING OVER IS CRITICAL. This ensures proper succession and also drives our District forward to assist us in avoiding mistakes made in this year and extracting the key and successful elements to improve our projects for the following year. Remember the success of our District depends on all of us!

The Rotaract clubs of Kingstown, Linden, New Amsterdam, Corriverton, Antigua, Montserrat, Roseau, Pointe-a-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Genesis, Paramaribo, F.R.E.S.H, Tobago and Southwest Tobago were visited during the period of February to April. I would like to thank all presidents and DLOs for hosting and accommodating DDRR Giselle and myself and for providing their inputs and support which has taught us a lot about Clubs in District 7030. This information will undoubtedly contribute to moving our District forward.

In closing, on behalf of our District Committee and myself, I would like to thank you for your continued support for this Rotaract year. It has indeed been a pleasure and honour serving you. See you in Tobago!
