The Rotaract Club of Roseau signals a “Treevolution” in efforts to sustain the Go-Green Campaign

We all want to go green and help the planet, but with so many tips and so much information on what we can do, where do we start? It’s easy, plant a tree! The Rotaract Club of Roseau in affiliation with The Forestry Division initiated a program that supports the environment when it launched a tree planting drive in the Canefield area on Saturday August 25th 2012.

This beautification project will definitely offer more than the visible results to the physical surroundings. The immediate environmental benefits are identifiable but the less obvious social, economic and communal benefits cannot go unnoticed.

In partnership with the Forestry Division and other stakeholders, including the Canefield Urban Council the Rotaract Club sourced assistance in the donation of plants and the clearing of the area for plant preparation. The species of plants donated varied from the Croton plant, oleander plant and the ‘Bwa Kwaibe.

The Rotaract Club of Roseau seeks to raise public awareness on the benefits of this initiative and hopes to increase participation of volunteers in this venture. Rotaract is a vibrant organization of young professionals enacting change in the communities all over the world. In keeping with our District theme “Service trough Passion; Sustainability through Training” our Club will strive to continue steering as catalysts driven by stewardship.
