The Rotaract Club of Roseau – “Scrap’n Build me a Foodument” Project

In order to raise awareness of different cultures around the globe, members of the Rotaract Club of Roseau embarked on a project to build famous global monuments out of food

Dubbed “Scrap’n Build me a Foodument,” the project was organized by the International Committee of the club.

“The project was organised as a creative way to introduce our members to the various cultures around the globe,” Director of  the International Committee, Tyisha Williams, said. “It was also done to help build teamwork within the various committees and as a form of fellowship.”

She indicated that the project was well received by members of the club

She indicated that the project was well received by members of the club and that it was evident that they enjoyed it.

In addition to building the ‘fooduments,’ members also had to create a scrapbook to give information on the country the monument which they were replicating was located in.

“The fooduments were all built on site, however each committee was given about three months to design and make their scrapbook. We intend to donate the scrapbooks to one of the primary schools on the island ” Williams explained.

The activity was judged by past Rotaractors and friends of the club. The International Committee emerged winner in the project after building The Great Wall of China.

Some of the other monuments built were the Eiffel Tower (France) by the Finance Committee, the Big Ben (England) done by the Professional Committee, Chichen Itza (Mexico) by the Club Service Committee and the Giza Pyramid (Egypt) by the Community Service Committee.
